Anchoring

Cathie Associates can assess anchor holding capacities for pile, suction and drag anchors. Installation risks associated with drag anchors and anchor penetration studies are also part of our solutions for anchoring problems.

In many soils, the suction-installed caisson (SICA) anchor is ideal as a temporary or permanent anchoring or mooring system. When soil are not suited to SICAs, for example when they are very hard or cemented, a traditional pile anchor solution or gravity base solution is often adopted.

High holding power drag anchors, and vertically loaded anchors are good solutions in some contexts but the risks involved with installation difficulties or insufficient holding capacity should be evaluated carefully.
