Sean McDonald
As Vice President of Cathie Associates, Inc., Sean is responsible for Cathie Associates operations in the United States. Sean holds degrees in Geophysics and Geological Engineering (specialization in geotechnical engineering) from the University of New Brunswick in Canada and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas, Nevada and Alberta, Canada. Sean has 18 years’ experience in marine geotechnics and terrestrial geotechnical engineering, and over 20 years in ground, sea and airborne geophysical surveys and engineering geophysics. His foundation design experience spans GBS, TLPs, PLETs, suction piles, drag embedment anchors, closed-cellular cofferdams in static and seismic environments. Sean has also applied his knowledge of geophysics for the detection and discrimination of UXO, diamond/kimberlite exploration, geohazard surveys and project risk management. This synergy of tailored education and experience is unique to the O&G and Renewables industries.

Ajay Shastri
Ajay Shastri has a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical Specialization and a M.S. Degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Specialization from Texas A&M University. Dr. Shastri is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. His research portfolio includes 12 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Shastri has valuable industry and academic experience in geotechnical / structural engineering with extensive involvement on an array of projects spanning transportation, private industry and energy with specific experience in designing shallow and deep foundations for subsea structures. Dr. Shastri has well-rounded geotechnical experience in the design of deep pipe pile foundations, embankment slope stability and settlement analysis; he has also developed groundwater seepage models to evaluate impact of storm waters on structures.
